Hear what our Executive Committee have to say about the challenge
John Stewart, Director of Human Resources, talks about the importance of hitting your targets
Next up from our Executive Committee was Gregor Alexander, Finance Director, who had this to say about the 2017 Activity Challenge:-
1.What do you enjoy most about being active?
The key thing for me is the "feel good" factor and the energy being active gives me. I sit at a desk most of the day so it is essential I get a chance to exercise.
2. What are you most looking forward to about this year's activity challenge:-
Being part of a team effort and helping me lose some weight!
3. And what are you most not looking forward to?
Remembering to log my steps!
4.How do you fit in being active into your busy lifestyle?
You need to be disciplined. I am away on business a lot and tend to have one rule - if I am away overnight I will try and be in the hotel gym first thing at 6am. I usually do a 5k or a session on the bike which really sets me up for the rest of the day. At weekends I play golf and try to get at least one run in.
5. What does being fit and healthy mean to you?
My job involves working long hours and can often be stressful. It is important especially as you get older to make sure you "oil the engine". By being fit you help your mental agility and it gives me a lot more energy to focus on what matters.
6. What message or tips do you have for those taking part in this year's activity challenge?
Not having enough time is not an excuse. We should all give ourselves time to have active exercise during the week. It is one of the most important things we do. Make it part of your DNA and you will never look back.Good luck!
Thank you Gregor for your time and your excellent message that "not having enough time is not an excuse". If we look at the whole day and be honest with yourself, you will probably find there is at least some time at some point where you can fit it some form of exercise.
